IN 2012, RARELY PURE THEATRE STARTED AS A ONE-WOMAN FORCE OF NATURE.
Founder Monique Renaud had a blazing ambition to write, direct and produce a piece. Being a mere 12 months out of theatre school (and 3 months pregnant), Monique made a plan, set a date, and stuck to it… all by herself.
This level of enthusiasm, dedication and passion is what created Rarely Pure Theatre, and drew the remaining of its core artists. Since it’s very recent inception a mere 2 years ago, you’ll see that we have colored this short time-line with 5 productions, close to 10 special events and collaborations with young painters, graphic designers, cinematographers, writers, technicians and, of course, the city’s finest young performing talent. We’ve performed in art galleries, café’s and dance studios, but not because we’ve had “no other choice”. We make these meticulous decisions because we know that with this process, our plays will continue to be the very best in Toronto indie Theatre.
